Hi, I'm Claire.
Growing up on a farm in the Greater Toronto Area, I developed a love of the outdoors at a young age. When I wasn't outside, I was bored. And that is where the art of writing came in. My lifelong passion for reading and storytelling has made me a better writer, as I've learned from the dreamers and doers who have created their own paths in the industry. After earning a Bachelor of Health and Environmental Science from Queen's University, I went on to pursue a degree in Education, as well as art courses at Haliburton School of Art + Design, and virtual courses at the Berklee College of Music.
I have a travel bug that I have never been able to kick, yet. Breaking into the travel writing scene has not been easy and I am grateful to learn from expert mentors in the field. I continue to explore the world with curiosity and a cautious mindset, while documenting design, agriculture, the outdoors, arts, and lifestyles. Searching for unique angles have become a part of my every day living.
Currently, you can find past work in Hobby Farms Magazine, Farm View, Voice of the Farmer, Georgina Advocate and the Ontario Farmer. Poetry has been published in The Annual 2017 and 2018 Her Heart Poetry, Her Heart Publishing print and digital publications. Pieces can also be found in the Ontario Poetry Society Anthologies of Canadian Poetry, published by Beret Day Press. I was the winner of the 2021 Nashville Songwriters Association International Song Contest. Recently, photography has been awarded in the reFocus Awards color photography contest and was published in the Mira Mobile Prize 2023 Book and on exhibition at the Galeria Mira Forum in Portugal.
When I'm not teaching, farming, traveling or writing, you can find me reading novels, brainstorming story and song ideas, hiking, practicing other mediums of art, and playing with my two little girls.
